A private, independent non-profit dedicated to consumer justice across Nigeria.
Who We Are
Institute for Consumer Rights and Product Liability Protection Ltd/Gte (ICRP) is a private, independent non-profit organisation dedicated to the protection and the enforcement of consumer rights, the enforcement of product liability standards, and the promotion of accountability.
Through advocacy, education, awareness campaigns and litigation, we ensure that consumer rights and the dignity of consumers are respected across Nigeria in every transaction, whether commercial, institutional, or governmental.
We are non-partisan, consumer-driven, and committed to building a Nigeria where marketplace accountability is not a privilege but an enforceable right guaranteed to every person.
We want a just Nigerian society in which every consumer enjoys enforceable rights, and in every transaction, the consumer's dignity is respected and violators of the consumer's rights and consumer protection laws held accountable.
To assert, defend, and enforce consumer rights and ensure safe products and fair practices through strategic litigation, policy advocacy, regulatory engagement, public education, awareness campaigns, and direct intervention; to challenge unsafe products and unfair practices; and to expand access to justice for consumers, particularly the vulnerable.

PUBLICATIONS
PUBLICATION. BOOK

The laws for consumer protection in Nigeria beginning with the apex law FC CPA 2018 and other sector specific laws make provisions for the protection and enforcement of consumer rights when they are breached. However the level of enforcement of the rights of the cobsumer to an effective redress through litigation in the courts is called into question as a result of road blocks placed in the way of the vulnerable and poor consumer in a long, protracted and costly litigation in Nigeria.
This book advocates for the Nationwide institutionalization and strengthening of Small Claims Courts as a transformative solution to the systematic delays that disproportionately affect everyday citizens and the vulnerable consumer.

Everyday Nigerians who have been cheated, misled, overcharged, or sold defective products. They need fast complaint resolution, legal backing, and fair redress. This is the core of ICRP’s work.

Low-income earners, the elderly, rural communities, and others with limited access to justice. They need guidance, protection, and a strong voice to stand for them.
